In the event of an emergency, 20/20 Captioning & stenoCART offers 24/7 emergency broadcast captioning services to assist television stations in complying with the guidelines of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Any television station broadcasting emergency information is mandated by the FCC to provide an on-screen visual presentation in the form of captions for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Examples of emergency information include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Weather situations including: tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, heavy snows, icing conditions, severe weather warnings and watches, widespread fires, hurricanes, tsunamis.
  • Community awareness events including: discharge of toxic gases, widespread power failures, industrial explosions, school closings, and changes in school bus schedules resulting from such conditions.
